Welcome to E-INK GUY, my new blog where I will be writing about my experiences with using the Remarkable 2 e-ink writing tablet. My name is David Thrift, and I’m glad you stopped by to check out this blog.

My Remarkable 2 E-Ink Writing Tablet Is On It’s Way

On Tuesday, April 6th, 2021, I placed my order at remarkable.com for their latest Remarkable 2 E-Ink Writing Pad (aka Paper Tablet).

I am happy to say that today on Friday, April 14th, 2021, I have received confirmation that it is on it’s way from Hong Kong, China to be delivered. I am not exited that this device is coming from China (fuck China), but this is a tablet I have been eyeballing online, and drooling over for months.

Over the past 20 years, I have not been much into handwriting. With the technology of the internet, computers, and then smartphones, I haven’t had a huge need for handwriting outside of making lists occasionally, or some other brief writing. I am hoping that the purchase and acquisition of this tablet will help me to reconnect with my love of hand-writing when I was a younger adult.

While serving in the U.S. Army during the early 90’s, I enjoyed keeping and writing a daily journal. I wouldn’t be caught without my notebook and a pen, and I would write in it every chance I got.

Over the years since that time, I have made several failed attempts at trying to write a journal on a daily or weekly schedule, but I never stuck with it. Maybe this tablet can help serve another attempt and bring more motivation since I love electronic devices.

I have a stack of various notebooks that I’ve accumulated over the years that contain mostly outdated and irrelevant information that I don’t need anymore, but refuse to throw out because of memories and nostalgia. So I want to re-write those notes into a digital document, then run the papers through my paper shredder, and clear some clutter out of my home.

I also want to use this tablet to start learning how to draw zentangle patterns. That has been something I wanted to try for years, but never did because I didn’t want to waste paper.
